I am a new investor but have learned a lot in recent years. I don't understand all of the intricacies of the stock market but I have learned enough to know the Hedge Funds and other big institutions are able to affect companies and therefore the market, on a huge scale that we individual investors cannot. The stock market was designed to help businesses grow and help common people be a part of the larger economy, not to make a very few people rich off destroying companies. This regulation does not eliminate this, but it at least helps level the playing field a bit more and hold these big funds accountable for the bets they make on borrowed money and the potential damage they will cause the economy and especially individual investors. I hope this is only the beginning of a change to turn Wall Street into a more transparent place and the market into the something resembling the American Dream and not the disgrace it has become. Please make sure this regulation passes and is ENFORCED.
