I believe young people learning to invest in companies are interested in who are on Corporate Boards. Racial (Asian Americans, African Americans, Latinx, Native American) and Gender Diversity are important to them.
It's time to start increasing that pipeline and developing people who can sit on those boards. Opportunity should be made. The NASDAQ requirement is a small request and quite frankly. It can easily be met and an explanation for not having met the NASDAQ requirement would at least mean companies are trying to plan for diversity in the future. An explanation would also be helpful for young people who are interested in investing which will attract future investors.
