We are strongly opposed to the registration of appointed board members as municipal advisors. These individuals are for the most part appointed public at large members of boards. We would lose the interest of otherwise qualified candidates if they were additionally required to register as municipal advisors. These board members have a full range of duties in addition to the activities involving governmental securities. They are not appointed as advisors and they do not serve as advisors. We can think of no reason to require their registration as advisors.
