Subject: File No. S7-42-10 - Comment from Karen Stevenson

February 11, 2012

Dear SEC Commissioners,

Please do not give in to industry pressures on Section 1504 of the Dodd-Frank Act (the Cardin-Lugar Amendment) - and make sure that ALL companies are covered, every country and every project gets reported, and loopholes that would allow large sums of money to go unreported are closed.

My Comment:

As a member of the human community, I don't understand how you can even question the language of Section 1504 and not eliminate the exemptions and loopholes. You, as the SEC, need to protect the community against the demands of lobbyists for exemptions that unfairly allow for loopholes and unfair profit by not only the despots that receive the "payments" that fail to trickle down to the communities, but the oil companies, who by paying off these political millionaires, profit by the hundreds of millions, possibly billions. You are the very agency that is supposed to protect the citizens against unfair or questionable practices. Please do your job honestly and don't cave to the demands of men and corporations that will never be satisfied with any amount of money, because those needless accumulations of money equals unbalanced power over all. And, you know what they say about power; power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
