I have invested in certain mortgage REITs from time to time. I do not see any reason to make any changes to current practices. I believe that doing so may be detrimental to many investors and may also be determental in reducing the needed liquidity that these entities provide, especially at this sensitive time in the housing and mortgage industries.
I strongly urge the SEC to make no changes to the treatment of Mortgage REITs at this time.
