It is my firm belief that the statutes, rules, and regulations currently governing mortgage REITs are prudent and effective just as they are, allowing for both salutary returns to investors and an important source of funding for the housing market.
It seems absolutely clear to me that any changes that are made along the lines of those contemplated by the SEC would prove utterly disastrous to investors and the housing market generally.
