I have recently invested some of my saving with Annaly, after consulting with financial advisors. I did so because the yields at many banks and other investments were so low. I understand that Annaly make its profits by reinvesting stock revenues into GSEs and leverages these revenues to maximize returns. I know that these support home mortgages sponsored by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac which help Americans stay in their homes at a time when housing lending is compromised.
I feel that by investing in Annaly I am protecting American interests and my own simultaneously. I hope the SEC are not planning to tamper with Annaly nor the regulatory environment that it finds itself.
I think it would be in everybody's interest if we could find a way to increase REIT participation to help 'troubled' home buyers stay in their homes while still providing a steady, stable return to the investor.
