The rest of the civilized world has strict regulations regarding derivatives. Why doesnt the US? Our markets have been gamified by the fact that institutional investors and hedge funds have an insane edge over retail. Not only do they have access to more data, they are able to move markets and securities with options and swaps.

Transparency is absolutely required to begin to level the playing field. Reporting must be accurate and timely. Lowering the threshold for reporting to say, $25 million would provide even less room to spread swaps out to avoid detection.

The SEC is on the right path by forcing data to be provided instantly and accurately. These rules must be implemented as soon as humanly possible.
