Having transparency in the market is always the correct route.

If a person or organization has control over what is seen and what is not seen, and that decision has large scale impact on a system in place that Is meant to relay accurate information, we have a large scale problem.

Selling something as being accurate when it is not in my opinion is fraud, and should be handled as such. The goal of our markets is to provide equal footing for all those businesses and give them the opportunity to thrive or fail. Being able to decide who succeeds and who fails at a whim is not beneficial long term, as those with that power run the risk of becoming consumed by their own biases and make decisions that are not in good faith.
