 All orders should be executed on a lit market. Trades should be made in real time. If orders are not made on an open market, then there is no way to know if your trade is effecting the price of the stock. If brokers can \"hide\" trades and execute them when they see fit, they can manipulate the price of the stock up or down depending on what their goal is. It is very important that all investors have a fair trade when they purchase a stock. If people are buying a stock, the price should go up. If people sell a stock the price should go down.
