February 24, 2023 The Competition Rule order is crucial to keep the market free and fair. The current system has let multiple parties, like broker-dealers, hedge funds, and market makers, boost their earnings by exploiting the retail investor, which harms the credibility of the entire US market. The proposal addresses two critical issues: banning PFOF and ensuring that NBBO standards are followed for all investors. Additionally, I'd like to see more investigation into the alarmingly high number of Failure-To-Deliver (FTDs) in the US market. This new rule will help lawmakers find and punish those responsible, but it must be enforced to be effective.
