Hi. I am commenting as a long-term buy and hold investor in mutual funds in taxable accounts. I am aware that I may be paying for others' frictional trading costs. I accept that, as I don't believe that those costs are material to me. However, I suspect that the hard close would make mutual funds untradable for many plans, platforms, and institutional investors. If the big money leaves, I will be left paying taxes on outsized capital gains distributions annually as investors redeem and go elsewhere. I will also face fees split across smaller denominators. Please either forget about hard close or simultaneously work with the IRS to eliminate tax on mutual fund reinvested cap gain distributions. Thank you.
