Hello,

My name is Andrew Rea and I work in the Venture Capital industry.  I’m a young recent finance grad, but I’m very educated on the space of startups and VC.  My passion is startups and investing in them. I”m emailing you because I’d like to see changes to the accredited investor regulations.

I’m well educated in this asset class.  I work in the industry in an investing capacity.  While I do not currently qualify as an accredited investor, I believe people like me should be able to invest in startups if we so choose.  I believe that people that work in startups or venture capital firms should be able to invest as accredited investors if they so choose.  It’s hard work to be a sophisticated investor.  I do not believe it is fair for the rules to exclude people that are emerging in their careers from certain asset classes even when they are more sophisticated than other wealthier people in certain asset classes.

I believe a more fair version of the rule would be to make exceptions for people with a certain amount of years working in venture-backed startups or venture capital funds themselves.  This gives us access to the asset classes we work hard to understand.

I’d be happy to discuss further.  My personal phone number is [redacted].

I hope you are able to make changes to this rule.

Thank you,

Andrew
