The value of inverse and leveraged opportunities (funds) was demonstrated to me during this volatile period we've been experiencing. The funds have provided some limited protection for my net worth, allowing to figuratively stem the bleed from the bulk of other traditional investments and avoid panic selling.
I'm not astute enough to trade options, though I've dabbled in them on a limited basis. The whole realm of puts, calls and timing is pretty complicated. I've studied it several times and I just don't feel competent enough to use it as protection in my accounts. As a retiree and small business person, I feel the realm of inverse and leveraged funds provides the relief and security I need in the time I have to devote to the effort.
Short of having these funds available to bridge me through this volatile period, I'd probably have liquidated nearly all other common stocks and opted for a much greater use of preferred issues.
Thank you for your consideration of these matters.
