Leveraged and inverse funds should be available to individual investors, provided that investors do not buy and hold them for very long time.
Such funds are important strategic tools to help limited position trading to augment investment returns and provide hedge in uncertain times.
Sure, those funds should be used with extreme caution, pretty much like options. Position sizing is critical.
Perhaps more education is needed so investors use discretion when dealing with such funds.
However I do not believe that such funds should be entirely banned and restricted for individual investors. Education is the key here.
