Comments to the SEC re leveraged funds

I strongly oppose having protectionist regulations that would limit my purchase of leveraged funds. I am 89 year old and am experiencing the enormous rise of medical and pharmaceutical costs. I need to find investments with a higher return to offset my rising costs.

Further, there are many more people who make poor financial decisions like buying excessively large homes, and creating excessive large credit card and educational loan debts than those buying leveraged funds. Trying to protect people against themselves is a very slippery slope. Why pick on individuals who have actually saved enough to buy leveraged investments. I resent intrusion by government in my private affairs.

If the government wanted to protect me, it should include the true cost of living for seniors, like health related costs, in the calculation of the consumer price index and increase Social Security payments. That would be true protection rather than imposing restrictive protective regulations.
