October 31, 2022 I support the commission in this rule making due to the fact that I can think of no other industry in which anything of value is lent without a due date for its return. When brokers lend shares being held for retail investors, it is equivalent to replacing the bought and paid for shares with an IOU. The ability to have the data on who and where these shares are being lent could prove invaluable to retail investors.
