The loudest parties against this proposal are the ones who benefit the most from the public being kept uninformed. Abusive short selling has plagued the stock market for decades, prolonging price discovery and allowing institutions an unfair if not illegal advantage over retail investors. In this era of technological advancements, there is no reason a company cannot report their positions every 15 minutes, unless this relinquishes an unfair advantage in the stock market. Pass this amendment, allow for better transparency of security lending activities, and move the market to a freer and fairer state than what it is today.
