Subject: Shareholders have rights! (File No. S7-16-07)

Chairman Christopher Cox
Securities and Exchange Commission
100 F Street, NE
Washington, DC 20549-1090

Dear Chairman Cox:

Please protect shareholder rights to file resolutions regarding their companies' actions. If taxpayers have rights, certainly shareholders, who have invested considerably more substantial sums of money, have rights I would hate to think that the SEC is attempting to protect corrupt CEO's from the light of democracy. We have seen too many corporate scandals (e.g. WorldCom, Enron, HP) in recent years to believe that CEO's should be exempt from prudent shareholder oversight.

I look forward to hearing that you have decided to maintain the status quo. To take steps backwards would undermine one of the greatest markets in the world.

Sincerely,
Allison E Shaw
