Indexed annuities ( IA's ) like all fixed annuities are savings vehicles, mostly used for safe retirement funds. We all need investments and savings. We need fixed and investment retirement planning tools.
The SEC should not regulate IA's as securities because they are not a securities product. IA's are a fixed insurance product and should be treated as such. I sell very few IA's as most of the folks I deal with do not need IA's however the folks that do need IA's for retirement savings understand they are a fixed product.
