C Suite Execs should not benefit from misleading investors and the general public. They should not only be held accountable and forced to return any compensation that they were not entitled to but they should also be held PERSONALLY liable and penalized. If there were more consequences to the individuals responsible for signing off on the reporting, I believe the markets would benefit as a whole as ultimately it would lead to more straightforward and honest reporting. Why are company executives currently permitted to misrepresent the business metrics, take a payday, and simply adjust their numbers down the road? The SEC's lack of exercising its authority over anyone besides Elon Musk is quite troubling as both an investor in US markets and as a US citizen. Get it together
