Clawback seems to be fair. As an average human being, in my life I have personally had examples of my bank, government and employer all made corrections. In these cases it was all honest errors. I had to repay all of them. Even my insurance company it has happened. Some people received COVID aid from government that wasnt eligible. These people will have to return this money. Im also assuming these were honest mistakes. Why should executives benefit from this on investors money? The money from the correction is going to come from the shareholders. Theres no reason for us to also give executives a free bonus from our pockets. For their lack of transparency, Ill behaviour or lack of common decency to do the right thing.
