December 12, 2022 Why must this information be mandated instead of requested as a best-practice? The comments show many people care about the climate and planet. I recognize their desire for climate action, standardization, and disclosure. Makes sense. Until you mandate it and turn it into a tool for humiliation. I worry that this proposal is not only a tool for standardization and disclosure to benefit investors but a tool for better information for targeted harassment and humiliation. Lag your industry? You will be harassed and humiliated. Fail to meet a benchmark? More humiliation. Disagree? You are a conspiracy theorist, climate-denying, planet-hating fool. Investors will not be the only ones using this data for targeting. Humiliation brings out the worst in humanity. Robespierre and Hitler are examples of what results when enough people feel they have been humiliated. Millions of people will be humiliated in Europe this winter due to a failed energy policy, although governments will use subsidies to try to mitigate it. You may have the support of the people today while you subsidize your mistakes, but if you fail on energy policy, I expect you to lose the support of the people and they will be thoroughly humiliated. History says beware of creating tools for humiliation.
