Dear Chair Gary Gensler, I am a retiree who has set aside funds in 401ks for nearly 40 years to be able to fund my retirement. I also do whatever I can in my own life to reduce my impact on the environment. For both financial and environmental reasons, I want to know the climate impact of my investments. The Proposed Rule S7-10-22, Enhancement and Standardization of Climate-Related Disclosures for Investors, would be a great help in understanding how my investments affect my retirement and the environment. Climate change stands to create significant instability and disruption in our financial and economic systems. I believe that implementation and enforcement of a strong rule will give me the tools to protect my investments and hold companies accountable for reducing heat-trapping emissions. I applaud the SEC for exercising its mandate to ensure that investors and the public have access to science-based information about risks that could affect their investments. Climate change is already having life-changing impacts on many in our society due to homes and lives lost to increasingly severe weather outbreaks. Data about the effects of climate change on companies’ assets and long-term business outlook is vital for investors to make informed decisions that protect both our economy and environment. Please pass a strong climate disclosure rule as soon as possible. Sincerely, Ms. Susan Dale Frederick, MD 21702
