Regarding Proposed Rule S7-08-22
As an individual retail investor, I expect to participate in a market that is fair and transparent where everyone is held to the same standards.
For too long, hedge funds have been using the practice of pay to play why follow the rules when they have the means to just pay a fine? This type of behavior is abhorrent and criminal. This proposed rule is a good start to begin holding hedge funds accountable and repairing the broken system that the stock market has become. I would hope that this can also be extended to market makers as no one should escape something as simple as short position reporting.
I appreciate the effort put into this rule proposal and hope that the concerns of individual investors regarding abusive short selling will finally be addressed. We all deserve to participate in transparent market.
