I strongly support a modernization effort to encourage paperless transmittal of annual reports and related information. The heft of many annual reports is astounding and places an unjustifiable burden on natural resources. Email transmission is more secure and reliable, and digitally-delivered reports can easily be searched and cross-referenced. It is also more practical to access historical reports when they are housed on the same website, rather than forcing a user to retain them over a period of years on a bookshelf.
According to the US Census Current Population Survey (CPS), in 2013 over 74% of all US households reported internet use, with the portion climbing steeply by household income.
