It is obvious that the test period in 2005 where we removed the uptick rule was not sufficient to justify its permanent removal. The Bull market of that period was not indicative the full spectrum of market conditions which the rule should have been tested in. How should the uptick rule be re-implemented? I'll leave that up to people with a better perspective than I, however, I think it is apparent that our economy has suffered because of lack of regulation on short selling.
