I truly believe that reintroducing the uptick rule is needed to protect the retail investors. Hedge funds with billions of dollars have the ability to push the stock price of an otherwise fundamentally fit company down so low that it creates fear within the market. So many retail investors have loss their life long investments and retirement accounts due to these abusive practices of the hedge funds. It is time for the SEC to act and reinstate the Uptick Rule so that retail investors can again feel confident enough to reenter the market. Without the uptick rule, the average retail investor will always get the short end of the stick.
