Please re-instate the uptick rule
This may not be in the best interests of traders working for large companies/hedge funds but it is in the best interest of long term investors.
Without the uptick rule short sellers will be able to continue to exploit vulnerabilities of individual company stocks caused by news releases and perceptions that may or may not be fact based. The protection of the investor interests should outweigh the desires of the trader. The trader has access to large resources that can be focused over a short period of time to destroy the value of a stock while the individual investor does not. Culmulatively the health of the individual investors assets are more important to the overall health of our economy than the large profits made by hedge funds executing short selling strategies.
