In my opinion, all short selling should be illegal. I understand that there are some theorhetical benefits but this is based on the premise that the majority of traders are honest and ethical. I believe that there are so few honest and ethical traders out there anymore that the system no longer works. There people make a profit when the price of the stock goes down and anymore anybody out there involved in it is going to try and do whatever they can get away with to force the price of the stock to go as low as possible.
