U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission

The following Letter Type F, or variations thereof, was submitted by individuals or entities.

Letter Type F:

Dear SEC:
As an advisor with Ameriprise Financial, I work one-on-one with clients to help them achieve their financial goals and retire with confidence. I believe strongly in what I do, and that investors with portfolios both large and small can benefit from working directly with a qualified financial professional who understands their unique circumstances and priorities.
With this in mind, I am writing to voice my support of the Securities and Exchange Commission taking the lead in crafting its Best Interest Regulation proposal. The SEC is well-positioned to institute clear protections for investors by enhancing the standards that currently exist and by requiring investment professionals to provide recommendations that are in the best interest of their clients. In addition, the SEC's unified oversight over all investment recommendations will result in better consistency and transparency for clients.
Americans who work with advisers are better prepared for retirement. We need more advice, not less. The SEC is the right regulator to enhance protections for investors and encourage them to take control of their financial future.
