As a household investor, I would like to voice my adamant opposition of allowing voting rights for individuals holding derivatives. Those who buy derivatives do not technically own shares of the stock, and therefore, should not be given any voting rights. For example, if I bought call or put options contracts, I do not expect to own the shares unless I exercise the options contracts. Options technically allow the right to buy the shares at a certain price. By definition, it does not equate to ownership of the shares. Swaps are similar in that respect.
