Hello,

I am writing to relay my opinion on quarterly earnings reporting. I think it is a misguided attempt at providing market transparency. I believe it drives teams to ignore long term goals. Society suffers because of this.

  • For example, the ongoing insanity of defined benefit pension obligations should be  a concern of these global companies. But it is not, because quarter to quarter, it does not matter to most investors. But in the long run, it will.
  • Additionally, the obsession around stock buybacks is so misguided by the people seeking an additional penny out of quarterly EPS.

The list goes on, as you all know.

Thanks for listening to my opinion.

Dylan
