Encouraging Americans to create their own businesses is the best possible way to improve the American economy and put more people to work. The new rules the SEC is considering relating to public financing for startups are unnecessarily draconian and will stifle the development and growth of new businesses if enacted as currently written. I urge the SEC to reconsider and to focus instead on creating a smooth, easy path to starting a business and seeking funding.
