Private Equity and its lack of transparency in performance risk and fees is a serious threat to all investors. In Public Pensions - secret no-bid contracts combined with unlimited secret political donations from Private equity to state and local officials since Citizens United has caused $billions in damages to taxpayers. Private Equity is a disaster ready to happen in 401(k) https://commonsense401kproject.com/2022/02/15/private-equity-in-401k-plans-a-ticking-time-bomb/ Private Equity is allowed to manipulate its own fees by making up its own performance numbers, which is a serious conflict of interest. The SEC current lack of regulation in Private Equity has cost investors $billions, but these recently proposed initiatives will at least move them in the right direction.
