April 19, 2023 The SEC should bring the crypto space and exchanges into compliance. Individuals/ organizations that issue crypto tokens, that are bought by the public expecting to profit from the effort of the token issuers, are issuing securities. These token issuers, are in fact public companies, that need to register with the SEC and follow all the accounting/ reporting requirements for US public companies. The exchanges that facilitate trading for these securities should register with the SEC and be subject to all of the rules that US exchanges are subject to. This will safeguard the public, and maintain the integrity of the US financial system.
