I believe as a whole system, the dark pools need to be eliminated. The more I learn about them the more I realize I will never invest ever again. To have participation in the stock market, it needs to be transparent and fair with real actual price discovery. Why should any buy/sell order not affect the price? Why is there even a dark pool? They continue to abuse their power. Self regulatory? Yes they are doing amazing at that and have been since they started to lobby congress with all the extra money they have to make rules work for them to cheat easier at the game. Some real change needs to be made or many investors will be lost.
