Companies have had a year and a half to implement systems and controls to provide a single metric. It's hard to imagine what "unanticipated compliance difficulties" would have taken over a year to resolve. As such, I can only conclude that anyone still having trouble is in that situation only due to poor planning, which is hardly a reason to delay implementation of a rule.
President Trump was very clear during his campaign that outrageous CEO pay was a legitimate issue that needs to be addressed, and he was correct. Don't let fond feelings for corporations prevent us from seeing the data so we can make progress on the issue, or turn President Trump into a liar.
