Subject: RE: Disclosure Effectiveness Review
I respectfully request that you develop and put in place, regulations that require public companies to disclose their political donations or other political payments, whether made directly, or made indirectly through channels that will then forward the funds to political organizations.
Shareholders are entitled to know how company resources are used, particularly when spent for political purposes, and especially when shareholders may consider such use against their own interests.
This is a matter of honest accountability to shareholders. It is also a matter of honesty to the public who are entitled to know the sources of the funding for political campaigns, and the influence particular companies are trying to exercise.
The SEC has responsibility for ensuring honest practice and political payments are surely a critical aspect of that.
Thank you for your attention to this concern, and your work on behalf of the public for honesty that we can depend on.
Sincerely,
Betty Shore
