Subject: RE: Disclosure Effectiveness Review

As our world evolves, our laws and regulations must evolve to keep up. Now the SEC has a key role to fulfill for our democracy and for US investors, by shining a light on corporate influence on US politics in the post-Citizens United world.

The SEC should complete and implement a strong rule requiring political disclosure from public companies, in the interests of shareholders and American democracy. Businesses should not be empowered to secretly use backdoor political channels like nonprofits or other associations to do their political bidding. Shareholders have a right to know how executives are using company resources for political purposes — whether or not those purposes are against shareholders' immediate financial interests.
