Subject: RE: Disclosure Effectiveness Review

The SEC and its commissioners should continue to work on a rule requiring political disclosure from public companies, in the interests of their shareholders. Businesses should NOT be empowered to use backdoor political channels like nonprofits or associations to do their political bidding, AND shareholders have a right to know how executives are using company resources for political purposes — especially if those purposes are against shareholders' interests.

American democracy was established upon the astonishing foundation that people (citizens) must be informed in order to make responsible choices. The PEOPLE are not corporations! Our rights to current information, to free exchange of opinion, and to assembly were established to protect voters' access to information relevant to their/our exercise of democratic participation. The SEC should be responsible for promoting the disclosure of relevant information, and not play footsie with corporations or their managers in manipulation of funds for political power-purchasing.
