With semiannual reporting being optional, it provides more flexibility for reporting companies. Companies can still release relevant and material information via 8-Ks or elect to release quarterly reports via 10-Q. The option to report on a semi-annual basis allows for companies to focus on longer term growth rather than quarterly metrics/shorter term goals and increases the valuableness of qualitative information; such as news articles or press releases. I am in support of the semiannual reporting option.
