I am a wheelchair user so out of the gate I'm concerned about knowing which officials healthcare corporations and insurance companies are supporting. If these officials get elected they will 'owe' the companies that supported them. Which means voting against policies that will protect and improve my healthcare, my neighbors healthcare, my mother's healthcare along with everyone else. As the wife of a train conductor, for one of a handful of railroad corporations, I'm concerned about who these companies may support with their corporate money and the unsafe policies they will try to push through. For instance, currently on freight trains there must be at least a two person crew. Many railroad companies would like to see this changed so these massive trains carrying what could be dangerous material to a one person crews. They could then fire half of their engine staff while putting the other half in elevated safety situations, while increasing their profit margin. As citizens we must know in a timely manner what corporations are supporting candidates with millions/billions of dollars. Those candidates will be working for us if elected. However, time and time again we've seen representatives backed by gun lobbyists vote against gun reform while the number one cause of death in children in the US is gun violence. We've seen representatives backed by health insurance companies vote against healthcare reform even though the number one cause of bankruptcy in the US is medical debt. We've seen representatives backed by industrial, coal and tech corporations who vote to pull back environmental protections and regulations along while denying climate change and disregarding the value of clean air, clean water and natural ecosystems. We must stop giving corporations and their wealthy benefactors a pass. Please, do not change the policy regarding these financial releases. For the good of the entire nation we must be informed of what companies are funding various candidates so we know who these candidates owe and the policies they will support.
