I am commenting on File No. 4-933, the potential designation of the Chartered Financial Analyst charter as a qualification for accredited investor status. I support the designation. The current wealth and income tests treat money as a substitute for knowledge and keep most Americans out of private investments that wealthy people may buy freely. CFA charterholders complete a demanding program in investment analysis and ethics, and they plainly have the knowledge the accredited investor definition is meant to measure. I ask the Commission to adopt the designation without added conditions, such as asset minimums or extra paperwork, that would undo its purpose. I also ask the Commission to keep widening paths based on knowledge rather than wealth, so that adults who understand the risks may make their own investment decisions. Thank you for considering this comment.
