At a time when the market maker exception has utterly destroyed price discovery, a move to ensure the validity of stock ownership is a good thing, but only if every step of ownership can be publicly verified. The owner must have complete control of their holdings and enjoy all the rights and benefits of an owner whose shares are directly registered with the company. Stop for a moment and realize that the corruption allowed by lax rules and enforcement has sown the seeds of the destruction of the free market and capitalism itself. While this continues, socialists and communists will have the moral justification to overthrow the free market: a market controlled by a few with special privileges to control supply and demand is not a free market. Your responsibility is great and grave. Doing the right thing will mean prosperity for all; allowing another fatal loophole will end our way of life.
