For reasons asserted by other commenters, a person demonstrating sufficient investment knowledge should certainly have earned accredited investor status. Any person who has earned the CFA charter would fit this criteria. The awarding of the designation requires mastery of its extensive investment body of knowledge in three six-hour exams over a minimum two and one-half years plus four years of relevant work experience. Please consider giving CFA charterholders automatic accredited investor status.

I am a member of the CFA Institute, awarder of the CFA charter, but do not speak for it in an official capacity.
