Subject: Comment on File Number 4-637

Dear SEC:

As a stockholder in several US corporations I have noticed that some of them are spending what's effectively my money for political causes with no accountability to us stockholders. I do not object to any particular contribution to a candidate or PAC, but I am distressed that most of the corporations in which I hold stock do not divulge to which causes they have made contributions. This practice can easily lead to abuse, and the volume of money flowing through PACs this year suggests that abuse is already present. Therefore I urge you to impose accounting rules to require publicly traded corporations to disclose promptly their contributions to political campaigns and PACs.

Regards,

William Herdle
