Subject: Please require public companies to disclose political spending 4-637

July 19, 2012

To whom it may concern,

I am writing to request that the SEC begin requiring all publicly traded companies to disclose their political spending. As a direct shareholder in several public companies, I find it very frustrating that I cannot readily determine (a) if companies I invest in are spending money directly on issues I oppose, and (b) if companies I invest in are spending money on political matters that I would consider to be poor investment choices. Because of this, I have spend a great deal of time researching a company's politics and guessing at what it might spend on. As a result, it takes me longer to make investment decisions, and I do so with less confidence.

Please require disclosure of political spending.

Thank you,

Raj Mahajan
