Dear members of the Securities and Exchange Commission:
What if the government decided to bail out all those in the Ice business who were losing their industry to the advent of the refrigerator? Simultaneously, they could have declared war on Freon as an environmental hazard.
What if the government decided to bail out carbon paper business? They could have declared that the ink used in photo copy machines is an environmental hazard.
What if the government decided to ban MRI machines in favor of exploratory surgery?
What if the government decided to prop up the typewriter industry and suppress technology leading to the Personal Computer?
What if the government decided to prop up the use of solar panels and windmills while working hard to diminish the domestic oil, shale coal, gas and nuclear energy industries?
What if the government restricted free market conditions for health insurance and mandated a single payer system?
Let the free market work freely.
OK, what are your “What ifs”?
