A democratic government cannot operate based on secret backroom deals. Nor can a republic exist when a tiny handful of wealthy multinational corporations control the political process with secret bribes. Secrecy and corruption are the enemies of democracy and the engineers of despotism. Corporate control of our Government is corrupting our entire nation and destroying our way of life.

Since the outrageous Supreme Court ruling in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, the power of SuperPACS to control elections, corrupt politicians, and defy the will of voters has skyrocketed.

Publicly-traded corporations should not be allowed to secretly dispose of publicly-owned shareholder money without disclosing what they are doing with it. That money belongs to the shareholders, who have a right to know how THEIR money is being used.

I urge the Securities and Exchange Commission to require all publicly-traded corporations to disclose all their political spending to the public.
